Counselling


Counselling offers an opportunity to explore what's going on for you. I will listen carefully, empathetically and compassionately to help you evaluate and understand your past experiences and how they impact your present life.

Using a number of well-established  therapies including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and TA (Transactional Analysis) we will work together to develop self-understanding, build self-acceptance and create the change that allows you to move forward in a way that works for you.

  • affairs and betrayal, separation and divorce
  • anxiety (general or specific)
  • behavioural concerns (own or other's - how to cope)
  • bereavement and loss
  • dementia support
    (for individuals experiencing early stage dementia or those caring for a relative with dementia)
  • depression and feeling low

  • family issues
  • feeling sad (general feelings or specific issues)
  • learning disabilities including ADHD and ASD
  • loss and bereavement
  • older people's concerns, including early stage dementia and loss of independence
  • panic attacks
  • perfectionism
  • relationship issues for individuals, couples and small groups
  • sensitivity, including ADHD rejection sensitivity
  • separation and divorce, affairs and betrayal

Therapy-based Coaching


Therapy-based coaching is goal focused and forward looking, but won't ignore what's made you who you are, or how your past has impacted your present. We will work together to focus on what your goals are, and what you want to do differently.

Relationships and communication therapy supports the understanding of how we live alongside and connect with the important people in our lives - with all the ups and downs that life offers us. 


We will work together to help you understand how to listen first, and then communicate more effectively in a way that feels authentic for you, eith

We will work together to help you understand how to listen first, and then communicate more effectively in a way that feels authentic for you, either within an intimate couple, close friendship, professional partnership or a small family group (3-4 people). 


I work in the following areas:


  • supporting life stage changes - for example: moving away from home to study, becoming an independent adult, making early career choices, becoming a parent, managing two careers, facing redundancy, considering retirement
  • building better relationships with those you care for - for example: caring for a parent with dementia
  • improving communication styles and building boundaries in personal and professional relationships
  • tackling unhelpful habits and behaviour patterns when you interact with others - for example: people pleasing, keeping the peace
  • challenging unhelpful thinking styles and patterns in relationships - for example: 'it's always my fault'
  • building motivation to connect better with others
  • exploring what a fulfilling relationship is for you
  • developing healthy habits and boundaries in communicating with others
  • creating a positive /accepting/non judgemental approach towards others
  • managing and understanding the impact of ADHD and ASD in relationships
  • supporting difficult decisions with partners/ people close to you
  • exploring your career choices with your partner/family/ significant others
